Abstract
Introduction: While great efforts have been made to determine the quality of life in
hospital staffs, few studies have been conducted to identify the effective
factors on the quality of life of these employees. The purpose of the present
study was to investigate the relationship between workload and quality of life
in hospital personnel.
Material and Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, 200 staffs were selected randomly
from two large hospitals of Tehran University of medical sciences (Imam
Khomeini and Shariati hospitals). The data collecting tools were three
questionnaires including demographic characteristics,
quality of life (SF-36), and NASA-TLX workload. SPSS software (version 18.0)
was used to analyze the data by descriptive statistics, and Pearson and
Spearman correlation tests.
Results: Based on the
findings of the study, the mean total scores of the quality of life and the
workload were 50±18 and 69.7±13.9, respectively. The results revealed
significant reduction in all dimensions of quality of life in nurses compared
with laboratory and operating room staffs. Meanwhile the nurses’ workload
scores were higher than the two aforementioned groups (p = 0.001). Moreover,
there was a significant inverse relationship between workload and quality of
life in hospital staffs (P=0.004, r = -.306).
Conclusion: The
results of this study highlight the role of managers and supervisors in the
implementation of efficient interventions for improving the quality of life and
workload. Therefore, further researches are required to identify other factors
that affect the quality of life and workload in hospital staffs.

Abstract
Background & Objectives: Shiftwork is a social phenomenon that can have adverse effects on human life. Given the importance of the shiftwork system and caused by the related health problems, the present study was conducted to determine the health status of and shift workers in a hospital.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in one of the hospitals in Razan (Iran). The sample size consisted of 120 medical, administration and service staff. The SOS questionnaire was used for data collection. The data analysis was performed in SPSS software by χ2.
Results: The results showed that 98.3% of complaints were about personal, social and familial problems, and 84.9% were related to musculoskeletal disorders. . Satisfaction of rotating shift work and shift work voluntarily chosen variables, the rotation of the shift, shift work and adverse effects on personal life, adverse effects on family life revealed a significant relationship (P<0.05). Instead, insomnia common variables, adverse effects on social life and social problems showed no significant relationship.

Abstract
Introduction: In many
sensitive and sophisticated workplaces, human errors are very important. Many
events occur annually around the world is evidence to confirm error due to the
data processing operators. The main goal of this study was to investigate human
information processing models and workload demands on human operators, then
developing a regression model for this purpose.
Material and Methods: This was a case study. Task analysis of control room
members, including shift supervisor, board man, and site man and user
instrumentation in this study was investigated. Data collection was performed
by interviewing employees using a questionnaire with two parts the first part
was the model of human information processing and the second part was workload
NASA–TLX and an appendix of opinions existing staffing level and finally task
analysis performed using SPSS 16 – SPSS.
Results: There was a correlation between workload and stages of
human information processing model such as perception )r=0.65, p<0.01), vocal response (r=0.45, p<0.01)
and manual response (r=0.15, p<0.05). Some effective factors on workload
were vocal response (β=0.232, p=0.033) and perception (β=0.576, p=0.00). The
most important factors in the analysis of anticipation staffing demand were
perception (β=2.514, p=0.008), workload (β=1.57, p=0.018) and vocal responses
(β=2.428, p=0.01), respectively.
Discussion and Conclusion: Increasing
concentration and attention and perception skills using psychological measures
including decreasing the workload and stress and holding specialized training
courses are necessary.

Abstract
Introduction: Faculty and staff are the pillars of any university. Any impairment in the function of these elements would undoubtedly decrease the quality of education and training services provided. The present study aimed to assess the relationship between subjective workload and job satisfaction in faculty and staff members of universities of medical sciences and universities affiliated to the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive-analytical study recruited 164 faculty and staff members. Data were collected using a demographic questionnaire, NASA Task Load Index (NASA TLX), and the Job Description Index (JDI). One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was applied to analyze the data.
Findings: The participants’ workload had no significant effects on their job satisfaction. Faculty members generally had a heavier workload and lower level of job satisfaction compared to staff members. Moreover, faculty of universities of medical sciences had higher workload and lower levels of job satisfaction (14.5% vs. 30.76%) in comparison to faculty of universities affiliated to the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology. Moreover, 14.5% of the medical faculty members and 30.76% of science faculty members were satisfied with their jobs. Overall, job satisfaction and workload were not significantly related with demographic characteristics and job features of the participants.
Conclusion: Among the various subscales of workload, faculty members reported high levels of subjective pressure, time pressure, and effort. Therefore, further studies are required to identify the causes of such pressures and introduce measures for their reduction or elimination.

Abstract
Introduction: Improving the quality of work life requires a certain organizational culture that supports creativity, autonomy, accountability, and employee participation. The present study investigated the relationship between organizational culture and employees’ quality of work life.
Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional and correlational study was conducted in 2015. A total of 145 staff members of all deputies of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences were selected. Organizational culture and quality of work life were measured using previously designed self-administered questionnaires. Items of the questionnaires were scared on a Likert scale. Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated to analyze the data. All analyses were performed by SPSS.
Results: A moderate level of organizational culture was detected in this study (mean score = 3.04). Organizational culture and its components had significant positive correlations with quality of work life (r = 0.64; P = 0.001). Linear regression analysis confirmed the significant positive effects of organizational culture on quality of work life.
Conclusion: Based on the findings of the present study, modification of organizational culture and its components is necessary for improving personnel’s quality of work life, job satisfaction, and participation. Development of appropriate organizational culture can ensure higher quality of work life among university staff and enhance the quality and productivity of academic services.

Abstract
Background: Attention to the workstations of the employees and their quality of work life has become increasingly important due to the increased competition in the organizations. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between the ergonomic situation of the workstations and musculoskeletal disorders with the quality of work life and demographic variables in the administrative staff of the Tehran Municipality.
Methods: The present study was a descriptive and analytical one. The statistical population included a total of 600 persons, working in one of the regions in the Tehran Municipality. Of the 600 staff, a total of 255 were selected as the available sample group. The instruments consisted of the questionnaires, including the individual and occupational information, the Nordic questionnaire, the Walton Quality of work life, and the checklist of the ergonomic indices of the working environment for the administrative staff. In order to analyze the data, Student’s t-test and multiple regression analysis were used.
Results: In this study, the majority of the samples were females (56.9%) with a mean age of 33 years. A significant positive relationship was observed between all the ergonomic indices and the quality of work life. Significant correlations among the parameters such as age, education, sleeping at night, psychological conditions, musculoskeletal disorders of the neck, shoulder, and foot were observed simultaneously with the quality of work life. The quality of work life of an employee could be predicted through the musculoskeletal disorders and demographic variables but could not be predicted by the ergonomic indicators.
Conclusion: In this study, a relationship existed between the ergonomic condition of the workstations and musculoskeletal disorders with the quality of work life and demographic variables. Therefore, the physical condition and the quality of the work life of the employees would be positively affected by the improvement of the ergonomic condition of the workstations.

Abstract
Background: The working station has a major impact on the musculoskeletal disorders, therefore a considerable attention to working station staff is of importance. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of working station on musculoskeletal disorders among administrative staff.
Methods: 30 administrative staff participated in this analytical descriptive study. Data was collected using Nordic Musculoskeletal Disorders Questionnaire (NMQ) in ergonomic design intervention of three working stations (sitting, standing-and-sitting, standing) before and after of intervention. Moreover, a t-test and multiple regression were used to analyze the data.
Results: The average (standard deviation) of the age and work record of 30 participating employees were 44.3 (5) and 20 (5) years, respectively. There was a significant correlation between the type of working station before and after the intervention, with the expression of musculoskeletal disorders (P=0.02). There was also a significant relationship between variables of musculoskeletal disorders in the shoulders, necks, waist and hands at different working stations. However, there was a significant relationship between age, work experience and BMI index with musculoskeletal disorders.
Conclusion: According to the results of this survey the best working station is a sitting-and-standing. Therefore, by changing the type of working stations, musculoskeletal discomfort of the employees will be reduced appropriately.

Abstract
Introduction: working with computer for long duration, static condition, and poor posture may lead to musculoskeletal disorders. The aim of this study was to assess an educational and ergonomic intervention on improving work procedure among computer users in office work in 2016.
Materials & Methods: This descriptive-analytic study was carried out on 28 employees of administrative staff of Damghan Velayat Hospital. In order to determine the level of ergonomic risk, the physical status of patients was evaluated before and 6 months after intervention using ROSA method. The ergonomic principles were also used to increase the staff’s awareness. Finally, one-way analysis of variance and independent t-test were used to analyze the statistical data.
Results: Prior to the implementation of the educational intervention program, the most important risk factors were in the neck (P=0.009), elbows (P=0.019) and shoulders (P=0.031), respectively. After the intervention, this level of risk was reduced in the organs, which was a significant change. There were also other variables; age (P=0.028), gender (P=0.015), BMI (P=0.040), education level (P=0.047) and job experience (P=0.025). They had a significant effect on the final score of ROSA.
Conclusion: The results indicated the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders and ergonomic risk level by ROSA method which requires ergonomic intervention in the design of the environment, tools and equipment along with educational intervention.

Abstract
Background and Objectives: Musculoskeletal disorders is a working environmental damage that affects staff’s quality of life; in addition to high costs, it reduces physical, mental and social heath, and thus reduces the efficiency of staff. This study aimed to investigate the relation between musculoskeletal disorders and quality of life in selected hospital’s staff.
Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, the study population included all the employees (n=770) of Kordkuy Heart Hospital and Khatam al-Anbia Hospital of Gonbad Kavus, Golestan Province, Iran. The standard sample size of 300 employees (150 Kurdkuy and 150 Gonbad Kavus) from different occupational groups were randomly selected by stratified sampling. To collect the data, a demographic information form, the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire, and the Lancashire quality of life profile were used. Independent t-test and Backward stepwise were run in SPSS 22.
Results: A significant relationship was observed between musculoskeletal disorders and musculoskeletal disorders (general) in staff. A significant relationship was observed between gender and musculoskeletal disorders. Between quality of life at different levels and demographic variables, a significant difference was observed between the average quality of life with emphasis on gender and body mass index.
Conclusion: According to the results, gender and working shifts were effective in risk of musculoskeletal pains and can have a negative effect on staff’s quality of life. Thereby optimizing work conditions has a considerable effect on quality of life.

Abstract
Background and Objectives: Psychosocial factors are among the factors affecting employee productivity. Since few studies have been done in this field, this study was conducted to investigate the relationship between psychosocial factors regarding productivity.
Methods: This cross-sectional and descriptive-analytical study was conducted in 2020 among 105 employees of a food distribution company in Ahvaz. Data collection tools included demographic information questionnaire, Copenhagen Psychosocial Factors Questionnaire (COPSOQ) and Goldsmith Hershey Productivity Questionnaire. Independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance and Pearson correlation coefficient were used to investigate the relationship between variables.
Results: The results showed that there was no significant relationship between any of the demographic variables with the score of psychosocial factors and productivity (P> 0.05). Psychosocial factor 2 has a negative and significant relationship with the average score of productivity, ability, role clarity, organizational support, motivation, feedback and credibility. And psychosocial factor 4 has a negative and significant relationship with motivation. The mean score of psychosocial factors, factor 1 and 3 showed a positive and significant relationship with the mean score of productivity, ability, role clarity, organizational support, motivation, feedback and credibility.
Conclusion: Considering the role of psychosocial factors on employee' productivity, it is necessary to consider organizational interventions in order to control effective psychosocial factors. More attention to psychosocial factors in the workplace can play an effective role in the efficiency and productivity of employees and the organization.

Abstract
Background & Objectives: The pandemic and the crisis caused by the COVID-19 have challenged health care organizations around the world, causing human casualties and health concerns around the world and in Iran. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the mental workload and job burnout of medical employees during the Covid-19 pandemic in Iran.
Method: The present descriptive-analytic research has been conducted on 510 medical and diagnostic staff in the cities of Tehran, Isfahan, and Sanandaj. The mental workload and the job burnout of staff have been evaluated using NASA-TLX software and the job burnout Maslach, respectively. Statistical tests including t-test, ANOVA, and multivariate linear regression were used to analyze the data using a STATA-14 software package.
Results: The mean mental workload of employees associated with patients suffering COVID-19 and those not associated was estimated at 83.7±8.1 and 79.9±9.6 respectively. The mean of job burnout was estimated at 79.6±16.2 and 79.7±16.9, respectively, which were not statistically significant. The results of linear regression showed that being married (coefficient = -6.57, P value=0.003), employment as a Tarh (coefficient = -12.71, P value=0.002), inverse relationship and Work in Isfahan hospitals (coefficient = 21.21, P value<0.001) was directly related to burnout. Women (coefficient = 3.61, P value<0.001), having a relationship with COVID-19 patients (coefficient = 5.9, P value<0.001) had a direct relationship with the amount of mental work.
Conclusion: The mental workload and job burnout in medical employees during the COVID-19 pandemic are high, and warning and the mental workload in employees associated with patients suffering COVID-19 are higher than other employees.

Abstract
Objectives: The present study aimed to assess the effect of stress inoculation treatment (SIT) on occupational stress, COVID anxiety, resilience, and sleep quality of healthcare workers.
Methods: The current study was conducted based on a pre-test-post-test design with the control group. The research community consisted of healthcare workers in Ahvaz, and the research participants included 40 cases who were selected by purposeful sampling based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research instruments were the COVID-19 anxiety scale, resilience scale, sleep quality scale, and job stress scale. The data were analyzed in SPSS software using univariate and multivariate covariance analysis.
Results: The results of the present study demonstrated F ratios of univariate analysis of covariance for sleep quality (F=304.08 and P<0.001), COVID anxiety (F=212.99 and P<0.001), resilience (F=152.37 and P<0.001) and job stress (F=124.59 and P<0.001).
Conclusion: Due to the effectiveness of stress inoculation training on the studied variables, this training seems necessary for the health and treatment staff.

Abstract
Background and Aims: Administrative employees are often at risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders due to prolonged computer use. Additionally, frequent interactions with clients expose them to a high mental workload and job stress. This study aims to assess the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders, mental workload, general health, and job stress among administrative employees, to improve their working conditions.
Materials and Methods: The study is a cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study conducted among the administrative employees of an engineering company in 2021, and finally 119 people participated in the study by census method. Demographic information questionnaires and ROSA, Cornell, NASA-TLX, GHQ, and HSE-UK job stress checklists were used to collect data. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software, employing descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA).
Results: According to the posture assessment with the ROSA method, the average final ROSA score was 4.33±1.03. Examination of mental load with the NASA-TLX index showed that 78% have a high mental load. According to the GHQ questionnaire, the average final general health score is 24.4 ± 11.73. Also, based on the HSE-UK occupational stress questionnaire, more than 80% (103 people) of employees were under severe stress and 12% (15 people) were under critical stress. A significant relationship was observed between occupational stress, body mass index, and age (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Implementing intervention and control measures to improve musculoskeletal disorders, workload, general health, and job stress is essential.
