Abstract

Introduction: Creating an appropriate and efficient workplace environment is a fundamental part of businesses in the modern world. The proper design of interior spaces and exterior facades in workplaces invigorates the workforce and reduces the risk of depression for them, while also improving the quality of their work and the attraction of customers.

 Nevertheless, architects tend to design workplace environments solely based on personal taste and emotional preferences. The present study designed a branch of Bank Maskan in Sari, Iran, by using efficient scientific methods and with a focus on the quantitative and qualitative aspects of design.

Materials and Methods: The present study was conducted to design a workplace environment using the Kansei engineering method. It used the facade openings of a branch of Maskan Bank in Sari as its case study and extracted the users' preferences using the Kansei method in order to find physical patterns for designing facade openings based on scientific analysis of the data obtained. The researcher examined the dominant emotional preferences using the Kansei engineering method and had 200 individuals selected from the sample population fill out a questionnaire that was scored using Semantic Differential (SD) and based on a 7-point Likert scale. The data obtained were analyzed in SPSS-16 using a test for mean and the Pearson correlation test.

Findings: The findings of the present study confirmed the significant relationship between the quantitative (the type of openings) and qualitative (Kansei terms) characteristics of design using the Kansei engineering method and also showed that arched openings, with attributes of religiosity such as “loyal”, “trustworthy” and “moderate” (with correlation values of 0.6, 0.6 and 0.63, in respective order), and rectangular openings with vertical elongation, with attributes of economics and banking such as “stability” (with the correlation value of 0.62), have obtained the highest degree of correlation.

Conclusion: Given the positive effects of physical patterns, and as traditional arched openings imply attributes such as religiosity while rectangular openings with vertical elongation imply positive economics and banking attributes, these openings were deemed suitable for designing the facade of the examined branch of Maskan Bank in Sari.

Abstract

Background and Objectives: The progress and rebound of organizations depends on their productivity. Many factors affect the organization’s productivity; identifying these factors the organization’s deterrence can be prevented. In this study, the relationship between job burnout and employee productivity has been investigated.  
Methods: This research is applied and its statistical population is 1265 people in Shariati and Kharazi hospitals. 294 of these employees were selected by Convenience sampling method considering the Cochran formula. Data was collected using the Maslach Burnout Standard Questionnaire and Hersey and Goldsmith Human Resources productivity Standard Questionnaire. Pearson correlation test and SPSS18 was used to analyze the data.
Results: The results of data analysis showed that burnout, emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and reduced personal accomplishment with -0.82, -0.86, -0.83 and -0.85 correlation values, respectively, have a reverse and meaningful relationship with employee productivity of Shariati and kharazmi Hospitals employees.
Conclusion: Since the results showed that burnout and its dimensions have a significant relationship with productivity of Shariati and Kharazmi Hospitals in Isfahan, it is necessary for organizations to apply measures to reduce the feeling of burnout in the staff. The results of this study are consistent with the results of other studies. At the end of the study, were presented several research proposals based on the results of the study.

Abstract

Background and Objectives: Resilience is one of the factors affecting the job performance of employees and maintaining their health in a stressful work environment. This study aimed to apply the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model to investigate the individual resilience and the factors affecting it in Melli Bank branch employees of Kerman, Iran.
Methods: In this self-reported cross-sectional survey, 358 Melli Bank Branch Employees of Kerman city participated from August to December 2019. According to the JD-R model, the constructs including resilience, emotional intelligence, social support, and job stress, were selected as outcome, personal resource, job resource, and Job demand respectively and participants participated in the survey by answering the questionnaire designed based on these four constructs. Data were analyzed using SPSS 23 and AMOS 21 software.
Results: The results showed that resources (emotional intelligence and social support) and demand (job stress) are directly and separately related to resilience (P˂0.001 and P = 0.006, respectively), and they are also interactively related (interaction of emotional intelligence and job stress, social support and job stress, social support and emotional intelligence) (P˂0.001, P˂0.001, and P = 0.003 respectively).
Conclusion: Emotional intelligence, social support, and job stress can affect the resilience of bank employees and human resource managers in banks can help increase employee resilience by creating educational interventions in these areas.

Abstract

Background & Objectives: Ethical atmosphere and burnout of employees is an important issue for the management of the organization and management should play a key role in improving the performance of employees and the organization. The present study aimed to model the structural relationship between ethical atmosphere and emotional exhaustion with job satisfaction and turnover intention.
Methods: The present study is an applied research in terms of purpose and descriptive-correlational in terms of the data collection method. The statistical population includes 125 employees of the West Azerbaijan Gas Company who were surveyed by census method. The data collection tool was a questionnaire. Confirmatory factor analysis and Cronbach's alpha method were used to evaluate the validity and reliability of measuring instruments. Structural equation modeling using Smart PLS software was done to analyze the data.
Results: The results of the determined coefficients showed that the ethical atmosphere was able to explain more than 22% of the changes in emotional exhaustion. Also, emotional exhaustion can explain more than 44% of the changes in job satisfaction and 18% of the changes in the desire to leave the job. The coefficient of morale's impact on job satisfaction with emotional exhaustion was also 0.07. And the impact coefficient of the ethical atmosphere on the desire to leave the job with an emotional exhaustion was also -0.09.
Conclusion: Improving the ethical atmosphere of the organization and reducing the emotional burnout of employees leads to job satisfaction and commitment of employees, and as a result, the performance of employees and the organization improves.

Abstract

Objectives: Human factors are critical in the design and development of various products, but wideness and unclarity of different aspects of these factors make it difficult to extract demands of users. Studying emotional aspects of users' behavior in interaction with products, as well as interviewing them, is considered as an efficient tool in extracting design demands. This study aims to integrate the application of task analysis and the measuring of emotional aspects to determine the users’ emotional states in the different stages; and therefore extract the user satisfaction criteria.
Methods: This research has a descriptive/ exploratory approach. In this practical study, the use of two everyday tools for chopping onions is analyzed. 20 users of these tools were non-randomly selected to participate in the test and interview. Users performed the task with each tool, and the process was recorded by a camera. After performing the task, subjects completed self-assessment questionnaire and then, an interview was conducted about their experience of the tools usage. Parametric t test was used to evaluate results of the questionnaire and compare averages.
Results: Findings of the emotional questionnaire showed that the emotional states of people in different stages of task are significantly different from each other. The determined emotional states, showed the weaknesses and the advantages of the tools studied. By analyzing videos, interviews and surveys, users' demands were extracted. The extracted features were categorized based on the work steps.
Conclusion: Using this method can reveal precise details of users’ needs concerning product category, which can be used as a suitable tool for designers and researchers in the field of user experience.

Abstract

Objectives: The phenomenon of work-family conflict in organizations leads to important consequences, such as job burnout, emotional burnout, reduced job performance, and decreased individual well-being. Based on this, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of work-family conflict on the emotional burnout of teachers in Qom City with the moderating role of organizational support.
Methods: The research was conducted based on structural equation modeling, and the statistical population included all teachers in Qom, totaling 3,864 people, of whom 390 were selected as a sample using the Cochran formula and stratified random sampling method. Three questionnaires of work-family conflict, emotional burnout, and organizational support were used. Research data analysis was performed using SPSS version 26 and Pls software at descriptive (frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation) and inferential levels (structural equation model).
Results: The path coefficient of the variables showed that work-family conflict on emotional burnout (Beta=0.625, t=19.45, P=0.000) had a positive and significant effect, and perceived organizational support had a negative and significant effect on emotional burnout (Beta=0.127, t=-2.97; P=0.004).
Conclusion: Organizational support can have a moderating role in the relationship between work-family conflict and burnout. Therefore, the more the individual and his/her environmental conditions can control work-family conflict, and the more support the individual perceives from the organization, the less emotional burnout the individual will experience. Therefore, in addition to the courses it holds to increase teachers' knowledge in specialized fields, the education organization can also hold courses aimed at preparing them psychologically to deal with such stressful situations, which are sometimes unavoidable given today's life and improve their self-control and self-management skills to manage these situations.
